UPCOMING MEETINGS, COURSES AND WORKSHOPS
The Francis Crick Institute is running a 3 day course on "Colony management: quality assurance and validation", 29th September -1st October, 2025. This in-person course is aimed at laboratory animal professionals running or involved in the management of a large number of rodent colonies, such as colony managers and coordinators, senior animal technicians, and facility managers. More details and registrations links can be found here: https://www.crick.ac.uk/whats-on/colony-management-quality-assurance-and-validation
Course for Cryopreservation, Embryo Transfer and Assisted Reproduction in Mice (in English) September 29 - October 3, 2025, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna Advanced training course for postgraduates and technicians working in the field of mouse reproduction and cryopreservation. The aim of this course is to offer theoretical background information with practical training in the techniques required for successful assisted reproduction and cryopreservation in laboratory mice. Virtual workshop on "Cryopreservation and Other Preservation Approaches for Animal Models," organized by the NIH Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP). This workshop will be held as a series of virtual sessions starting September 6, 2024, and will continue into 2025. This workshop offers a valuable platform for experts to discuss the needs and challenges of cryopreservation and other preservation approaches for widely used animal models in biomedical research. The focus will be on current and emerging technologies aimed at advancing the preservation, maintenance, and sharing of these essential models, ultimately enhancing the infrastructure that supports groundbreaking research. The event is free to attend. You can register for specific sessions or the entire series at the following link: https://www.scgcorp.com/Cryopreservation2024/Default

The Texas A&M University Genome Editing Symposium, October 13, 2023 An annual symposium organized entirely by graduate students with a keen interest in genome editing technologies. We are encouraging applications from graduate students at U.S. institutions conducting research in genome editing, which may include, but is not limited to, basic research in sequence-specific nucleases, delivery method optimization, gene function analysis, and crop improvement, across the tree of life. The speakers will include Dr. Thom Saunders, Dr. Jeffrey Barrick, Dr. Matthew Burg, and Dr. Washington da Silva.
