Lluis Montoliu has been involved in research projects on transgenesis in several organisms since 1986 and in animal transgenesis for the last 21 years. He is a founding member of the International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT) and its elected President since 2006. At the CNB-CSIC in Madrid, he leads a laboratory since 1997, focused into the understanding of mammalian genome structure and organization and in the generation and the analysis of animal models of human rare diseases. He is also responsible for the Histology and Embryo Cryopreservation facilities at CNB and coordinates the Spanish node of the European Mouse Mutant Archive (EMMA) project
