HISTORY
The foundation of an International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT) has been discussed since the beginning of the Transgenic Technology meetings. At the ocassion of the 6th Transgenic Technology Meeting (TT2005, Barcelona, Spain, 11-13 September 2005) Johannes Willbertz, Nelson Khoo and Lluis Montoliu took the initiative to organise a round-table to openly discuss the creation of a Transgenic Technology Society that eventually resulted in the foundation of the ISTT.
What follows is a short description of events that preceded the registration and formal establishment of the ISTT Society.

Round-table discussion at the TT2005 meeting in Barcelona (Spain), the attendees agree to create the ISTT and nominate Lluís Montoliu and Johannes Wilbertz as interim President and Vice-President of the Society |
| January-September 2005 |
Johannes Wilbertz, Nelson Khoo and Lluis Montoliu initiate the first discussions regarding the potential foundation of a Transgenic Technology society |
