HISTORY
The foundation of an International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT) has been discussed since the beginning of the Transgenic Technology meetings. At the ocassion of the 6th Transgenic Technology Meeting (TT2005, Barcelona, Spain, 11-13 September 2005) Johannes Willbertz, Nelson Khoo and Lluis Montoliu took the initiative to organise a round-table to openly discuss the creation of a Transgenic Technology Society that eventually resulted in the foundation of the ISTT.
What follows is a short description of events that preceded the registration and formal establishment of the ISTT Society.

| 2 January 2006 | The Founding Members agree to create the ISTT (Foundation Minute) |
| November-December 2005 | Discussions to ellaborate the ISTT bylaws |
| 24 November 2005 | ISTT Logo Polls are closed. The winning logo is announced |
| 9 November 2005 | Request for ISTT logos |
| 4 November 2005 | An e-mail list is created to discuss the foundation of the ISTT with 60 volunteers |
| 12 September 2005 | Round-table discussion at the TT2005 meeting in Barcelona (Spain), the attendees agree to create the ISTT and nominate Lluís Montoliu and Johannes Wilbertz as interim President and Vice-President of the Society |
| January-September 2005 | Johannes Wilbertz, Nelson Khoo and Lluis Montoliu initiate the first discussions regarding the potential foundation of a Transgenic Technology society |
ISTT Prize
The ISTT has established a "Prize for outstanding contributions to the field of Transgene Technologies"

All TT Prize winners are given Honorary Membership in the ISTT
The TT Prize represents a silver-made mouse blastocyst created by the Hungarian artist Mr. Bela Roznay
