What is the difference between an ordinary and a corporate ISTT member?

Commercial organizations that wish to be associated with the ISTT may appoint one individual to represent them in the ISTT; this person will be a Corporate Member. Only one person from any organization may be a corporate member. Any other people from a commercial organization should apply as Technician/Student or Ordinary members, as appropriate. For all effects and purposes, corporate members shall have the same representational capacity as any ordinary or technician/student members of the Society, as indicated in our bylaws

Can I apply for student/technician ISTT membership?

At the ISTT, a Technician/Student Member is someone who is working under the responsibility of another person, and thus is not responsible for a laboratory/service/unit, and who is either executing routine and/or specialised techniques or is pursuing a PhD or other degree. Note that Postdoctoral scientists are not eligible for Technician/Student membership

How can I demonstrate my student/technician condition to apply for student/technician ISTT membership?

Applicants for Technician/Student status must complete the PROOF-OF-STATUS form (PDF, WORD files) and send it to the ISTT via post, fax or, preferred, by email to ISTT. Those technician/student ISTT members willing to renew their technician/student ISTT Membership will only be requested to send an email to ISTT from their supervisor confirming that their labour situation remains the same and therefore they still qualify in the present year as technician/student members

If I had registered in the ISTT in November, would my ISTT membership last until next October?

No. ISTT Membership is annually based, from January through December. Therefore, irrespective of the date of registration within the year, all annual memberships will terminate on December 31st, and renewal will be requested starting next January 1st, until March 31st, of the following year. ISTT Membership benefits from the previous year will be maintained until March 31st of the following year. However, please note that in order to be eligible for ISTT travel awards and reduced registration fees at ISTT meetings you will have to first renew your ISTT Membership and satisfy your annual dues

When can I renew my annual ISTT Membership?

All ISTT Members are kindly invited to renew their ISTT Membership from January 1st till March 31st, as indicated in our bylaws. On April 1st, non-renewed previous ISTT Members will have their ISTT Membership and associated web resources automatically cancelled. However, late renewals will allow you to rescue and reactivate your ISTT Membership and ISTT WEB associated resources, in order to maintain your historical membership records (year of enrollment). This extraordinary process of late renewals will be possible until December 31st of the corresponding year

What happens if I fail or forget to renew my ISTT membership before March 31st?

Your ISTT Membership benefits and associated web resources will be cancelled on April 1st. How can I pay my ISTT membership annual dues?

ISTT accepts payments through its PayPal account (where you can use your PayPal, credit/debit card or bank account to pay, this is the preferred and recommended payment format) or through Bank Wire Transfers to the ISTT bank account. Bank Wire Transfers are surcharged. Cheques are not accepted

I am a member of ISTT and have just changed my job, therefore I would like to update my contact details, can I modify my registration data?

No. Please contact us through the official ISTT email address and we will immediately update your membership details on your behalf

Why I cannot access the members-only section to see the videos/pictures that are kept inside?

The members-only section has a restricted access for ISTT Members. You will need a valid user/password combination to access

You can simply request an automated reminder to ISTT, through this web site, only providing your registered email address. The ISTT web server will immediately send your unique username and password parameters to your registered email address

How often are the Transgenic Technology (TT) meetings being held?

The TT meetings are organized every 18 months, usually in September-October or in February-March of the corresponding year. They are organized in Europe, America or Asia/Oceania, in subsequent cycles.

I would like to host and organize a TT meeting, how shall I proceed?

Only ISTT members are entitled to organize a TT meeting, on behalf of the ISTT. Any ISTT member willing to host a TT meeting must have the compromise/support/collaboration from the host organizing institution. Please contact us with your meeting proposal and send us documented proof of the support that will be provided by your institution.

Who can apply for ISTT registration/travel awards to attend a TT meeting?

All ISTT Members are eligible for ISTT registration/awards. The ISTT Council will examine all applications received. Registration Awards will be selected according to the documents submitted and with preference given to: 1) Student/Technician ISTT Members 2) ISTT Members submitting an abstract for presentation as a poster/short-oral communication at the TT corresponding meeting 3) Any other ISTT Member

I am representing a company and we would like to co-sponsor the ISTT and/or its web site, what should I do?

The ISTT welcomes all companies in the field of animal experimentation and the genetic modification of animals for co-sponsorship opportunities. Please, contact us and we will be deligthed to send you the current co-sponsorship options

The videos and pictures made available through the ISTT members-only area are provided uniquely for teaching and/or learning purposes. All videos and pictures included in the ISTT web site belong to their authors/owners and may not be used in webs, documents, reviews, publications, etc... without their consent. We kindly ask you to acknowledge the source of any of these videos or pictures, if used in a presentation, by citing its author/owner and the ISTT website, using the following format: "Picture/Video by [author/owner] provided by the ISTT (www.transtechsociety.org)"
